Dorothy Kellam's Obituary
Dorothy Fisher Kellam, of Dallas, TX, completed her earthly journey and slipped peacefully into the loving arms off her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 04, 2016, at her home. Dorothy was born July 16, 1924, in Texarkana, AR, to Emery and Metta Fisher. She is preceded in death by her husband, George “Harold” Kellam, her parents and 5 siblings. She married Harold Kellam on May 19, 1944 and moved to Fort Smith, AR, where her children were born. The family moved to Dallas, in 1966. After she settled in Dallas, she started a beauty supply business and later became a homemaker, while her husband traveled. She was a long-time member of Walnut Hill Methodist Church, where she served as an Usher and on the finance committee. Dorothy was full of energy and loved volunteering for several organizations. She joined the Assistance League of Dallas, in 1986 and remained a member until 2014. There, she helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars through her fundraising efforts. She also volunteered her time to the Psychiatric Department of Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, as well as to Prime Time Treasures. Dorothy loved her family. She is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Joyner; Two sons, Dennis, his wife, Mary Ann Kellam, all of Coppell and Damon Kellam, of College Station. She leaves behind 5 wonderful grandchildren and 3 amazing great-granddaughters: Courtney Joyner, his wife Kristen and their daughters, Annie Grace and Zoe, of Dallas; Ashleigh Joyner, of Nashville, TN; Drew Kellam and his daughter, Madison Kellam, of Dallas; Kaleigh Langworthy and her husband, Dan, of Montgomery, TX and Lorin Little and her husband, David, of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by sister, Florene Renfro, of Batesville, AR. and Charles Fisher of Bozeman, MT , as well as a brother-in-law, Jack Kellam and his wife, Dee Dee; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Newsom all of Fredericksburg, TX and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many dear friends, including Suzanne Krepper; Dr. Caesar and Carmen Aleman; Marc and Lucy Freedman; Clare and Don Calhoun and Diane and Doug Howell; dear cousins Jack and Brenda Kellam; Margaret Hussey and E J Morris and their spouses. The family would like to thank all of her doctors and nurses, who cared for her, as well as Amity Hospice care and especially Tim Cummins and Blessing Campbell, for caring for her until her final days. She will be missed by all who loved her. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 6-8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at Walnut Hill Methodist Church in Dallas, on Wednesday, Dec, 7, at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name, to Walnut Hill Methodist Church or Amity Hospice Care. We all love you MeMe and will miss you dearly.
