Dorothy Ellen McDonald was born on September 21, 1934, in East St. Louis, Illinois and passed away on May 5, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by husband, James Frank Wilcox and second husband, James McDonald; parents, Thomas Frederick Booker Jr. and Helen Dorothy Tomlin Booker. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Frederick Booker III and wife Somphet Booker of Richmond, Texas ; daughters, Julia Ellen Kacergis and husband, John Kacergis of Tulsa, Ok, Diana Claire Miller and husband, Chuck Miller of Fairfield, CA and son, James Frank Wilcox Jr. of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Jeff Kacergis and wife, Lindsay of Chicago, IL, Jennifer Thomas and husband, Matt of Tulsa ,OK, Jillian Kacergis of Colorado Springs, CO, Jimmy Atwell and wife, Kayla of Altus, OK and Kevin Atwell of Yukon, OK and five great-grandchildren, Jackson Atwell, Adlee Atwell, Anthony Kacergis, Nico Kacergis, and Deacon Thomas, and several cousins and second cousins and an Aunt Joyce Booker of Texas. Mrs. McDonald was an active community volunteer, a greeter, and member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, past president of the Dallas area Widowed Persons Support Group, and longtime member of PEO and AAUW. She was a former science teacher. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by many. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 2:30 PM at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The P.E.O. Foundation at 3700 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50312 P.E.O. is a philanthropic education organization providing college scholarships to women.
