Dorothy Ruth McElroy's Obituary
Dorothy Ruth Champman Lummus McElroy was born on June 3, 1933 in Waxahachie, Texas to parents, Thomas and Daisy Chapmen. Dorothy attended the Austin State School for the Blind and worked in Dallas for 20 years at the Lighthouse for the Blind where she was awarded the Employee of the Year. Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Lummus and their daughter, Margaret Nunley. She is survived by her husband, Hubert Doyle McElroy of Richardson, her children, Debbie and Willie Barragan of Dallas, Texas, James Lummus of Dawsonville, Georgia., Gayle and Jim Cooksey of Terrell and Joe Lummus of Dallas, Texas, her grand children, Clint and Cody Nunley of Sherman, Texas, Noel and Jennifer Swindle of Plano, Texas, Joshua Lummus of Dallas, Texas, Derek and Jacquelyn Wafer of Wills Point, Texas, Ryan and Jennifer Rawlinson of Waxahachie, Texas and Hannah and Tony Dellos of Garland, Texas, and Casey Lummus of Keller, Texas; her great great grand children, Chance Swindle, Ryanne and Clayton Wafer of Wills Point, Jordon, Sarah, and Timmy Dellos of Garland. Also, her brother-in-laws, James McElroy of Grand Prairie and Randell and Romah of Wills Point. The service will be held in the Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Rodeo City Music Hall at 214. W. Davis, Mesquite, Texas 75149.
