Dorothy Marie McLure Cole's Obituary
Dorothy Marie Cole left this earth for her permanent home with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 29, 2015. Dorothy was a native of Dallas, Texas born on February 7, 1930 to Rose and Jay Richard McLure. She was a graduate of North Dallas High School and continued her education at Southwestern University in Georgetown, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts and majored in piano. After teaching school for six years, she attended NTSU and completed her Masters of Education degree in 1956. In the summer of 1958, while attending the Career Class at Munger Place Methodist Church, Dorothy met the love of her life, Richard Cole. They married in July of 1960. Dorothy and Dick raised three children in their 55 years of marriage while Dorothy taught piano lessons and then returned to full-time teaching of 5th graders at DCA (formerly First Baptist Academy) from 1978 to 1990. Dorothy leaves behind her beloved husband of 55 years, Dick Cole; two daughters and their husbands, Karen and Van Dinger and Susan and Arren Conner; and a son and daughter-in-law, Kristy and Robert Cole. She has five grandchildren and two great-grandsons: Amber and Rob Dinger and sons Gavin and Cade; grandchildren Andrew Dinger, Alie Dinger, Taylor Cole, and Tori Cole. She also leaves behind nine beloved nieces. Dorothy was known for her servant’s heart and devotion to her faith and family and of course her love of music. Through the years, she loved serving at West Dallas Community Church School, playing piano for the Berean Class and teaching Sunday school at church, and delighted in babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandsons. She loved to cook for others and made family her priority. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends and remembered for quietly serving others with an unwavering faith in God, which sustained her to the end. Visitation with family and friends will be from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5th at Restland Funeral Home at 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas, Texas. Memorial services, followed by a reception, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 6th at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas, Texas with Neil Tomba officiating.
