Dorothy Stevens Parkin's Obituary
Dorothy Stevens Parkin was born December 16, 1936 in LeRoy, Louisiana to parents David and Gertie Stevens. Dorothy grew up in Louisiana with her siblings John Carol and Mildred Stevens Meaux as a share cropper family. In 1956 Dorothy met the love of her life, Jack Parkin, while waitressing at a local restaurant and they married later that same year. As a family oriented couple they began their family right away and together they raised six children. Throughout their life together, Dorothy and Jack lived in Abbeville, LA and Ozona, TX for about a year each. While with Mobil Oil, Jack and Dorothy were transferred to Tripoli, Libya for six years. During that time they had two sets of twins and their sixth child. From there they moved to New Orleans, LA for five years, back to Tripoli for another year, then to Dallas, Texas. They also traveled all over the world to 14 countries enabling them to experience many cultures and see many beautiful places. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Dorothy also spent her time as a den mother for the boy and girl scouts, as a cafeteria worker at her children’s schools, and was a very talented seamstress. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Jack Parkin, and her six children, John Parkin, twins David Parkin and June Case and spouse Randy Case, twins Kathleen Hildebrand and James Parkin and spouse Kimberly Parkin, and Robert Parkin. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, Karen Parkin, Cari Brown, Brittany Hildebrand, Paisley Parkin, Thomas Essary, Rusty Parkin, Michael Essary, Heather Hildebrand, Jaime Parkin, CJ Parkin, Samantha Parkin, and one great grandchild, Derek Mercado. The service for Dorothy Parkin will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 29, 2016 in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with a visitation one hour before the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
