Dorothy Nell Patton's Obituary
Dorothy Nell Hutcherson Patton passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Sunday, February 24, in her sleep at her home.A celebration of her long and faithful life will take place Friday, March 1, at First Baptist Church Carrollton. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Restland Funeral Home is tending to all necessary arrangements. Pallbearers at her service include Chance Connell, Reggie Mayo, Jim Odom, Bob Phelps, T.C. Rice, and Quinn Spann.Dorothy was born March 12, 1931, in Salisbury, TX, and was the third child born to Alfred Ellis Hutcherson and Ida Pearl Solomon Hutcherson. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband of 50 years, Roy Allan Patton, Jr.; her infant daughter Diana Lynn Patton; her twin brother Alfred Wayne Hutcherson; her sister Athalee Hutcherson Beckham; and her brother Rayford Ellis Hutcherson. She is survived by her son Keith Patton and wife Valerie, her granddaughter Paige Connell and husband Chance, her great-granddaughter Cara Connell, and also by her sister Velma Hutcherson Montgomery and husband Mickey of Memphis, TX.Dorothy was raised on a farm outside Memphis, TX, where she learned the values and principles that guided her throughout her life; hard work, honesty, integrity, and faithfulness to God. She graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in Ft. Worth in 1952. She married Roy on January 24, 1953, moved with him to Odessa, TX, taught school for a year, and then began her family. She moved to Irving in 1968 with Roy, then their family moved to Farmers Branch, TX in 1973.Dorothy enjoyed teaching in youth Sunday School departments. She was especially devoted to her friends and the staff at First Baptist Church Carrollton. She sang in the Live Wire Choir and participated in every event possible with her friends there. She particularly appreciated her dear Sunday School friends who brought the recorded messages of her pastor at their regular visits after she was no longer able to attend church services.Dorothy’s family wants to thank the compassionate caregivers at West Fork Village Assisted Living Residence in Irving, and the staff of Brookdale Hospice, who cared for her every need.In lieu of flowers, Dorothy requested that donations be made to the Live Wire Choir at First Baptist Church, Carrollton TX.
