Dorothy Jean Shaw's Obituary
Dorothy J. Shaw, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully on June 18, 2024, at Villages of Lake Highlands in Dallas, TX. She was 95 years old.
She was born on July 19, 1928, in Dallas and was raised in Wichita Falls. She attended Nursing school for a brief time until she met Earl D. Shaw, Jr, who she married on Jan 2, 1948. She and Earl moved to Fort Worth and then moved to Dallas in 1952, where they remained for 64 years. During that time, they had 2 children and later one grandchild. Dorothy became a great-grandmother in 2023.
She was an active member in Casa Linda United Methodist Church, where she spent many years working with the Women’s Society. She later joined the Lake Highlands United Methodist Church. She was proudly a full-time mother and homemaker. Her family, church and oil painting were her great loves. She and Earl traveled extensively during their retirement years, including trips to Europe, Australia, China, Thailand, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean. They also traveled across the United States. One of her favorite places to travel was Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was an avid fan of Southwestern art.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lola Moeller, her husband Earl Shaw, her son, Timothy Shaw and grandson, Malcolm Shaw. She is survived by her son, Michael Shaw, daughter-in-law, Kristine Shaw, grandson, Derek Shaw of Sachse TX, and great-granddaughter Aniston Shaw of Beaumont, TX.
Graveside services will be held on July 2, 2024, at 10:00am at Restland Funeral Home in the Garden of Whispering Waters.
