Dorothy Winell Smith's Obituary
Dorohty Winell Smith was born in Anderson County, Texas on December 25, 1925 to Delbert and Bertha Gatlin. After living in various towns in East Texas her family settled in Dallas. She met Clyde W. Smith while he was in the CCC camp in Dallas. They married December 17,1944 while Clyde was on furlough from the Pacific Occupation. They lived in Corpus Christi and San Diego until he was discharged. On January 19, 1946 a son, Jimmie Warren was born and on March 4, 1949 a daughter, Terry Kay was born. Dorothy loved music and while in her teens and as an adult, sung at various functions. She carried the love of music all her life. While married she worked at various jobs, but her most important job was raising her beloved children and taking care of Clyde until his death in 2011. She loved playing 42 and Gin Rummy with her friends. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by son, Jimmie W. Smith and wife, Linda of New Braunfels, TX; daughter, Terry K. Wall and husband, Tom of San Augustine, TX; granddaughters, Shannon Smith, Lesley Munizza and husband, Chris, Regina Sugg and husband,Jamie; grandson, Randy Wall and wife, Chelsea; great-granddaughters, Crystal Williams, Ashleigh Sugg and Allyson Wall; great grandsons, Turner Sugg, Rocco Munizza, Xander Wall, and last but not least a host of nephews, nieces and friends. The visitation for Dorothy Smith will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Dorothy Smith will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 22, 2014 at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with minister Steve Weeks officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
