Dorothy Mae Smith's Obituary
IRVING, TX – Dorothy Mae Smith, 86, died on Dec. 6, 2015. SERVICE: 10am, Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at the Beltline Road Church of Christ, 1202 N. Beltline Road, Irving, TX. Interment: Restland Funeral Home. Visitation: 9am, for family and friends at the Beltline Road Church of Christ. Dorothy was born in the unincorporated coal town of Dekoven, KY on Aug. 3, 1929. She attended Abilene Christian College, where she met Guy and began their marriage of 56 years. While supporting her husband’s mission ministry and airline career, each of their four children were born in different states, with multiple family relocations. She was primarily a homemaker. She worked many years at The Drawing Board (Dallas) and was a substitute teacher in the Irving Public School system. She enjoyed sewing clothing for her family, keeping a clean home, working in her yard, visiting and traveling with her children, attending church services and Ladies’ Bible class, and singing hymns in her alto voice. Oh, yes, she did love to sing. While in declining health she was unable to attend church services, but she often reflected on her good friends. Much appreciation goes to the many friends who so graciously visited, comforted, and sent her cards of well wishes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy O. Smith, Jr.; parents, William Asberry (W. A.) Wilson and Rose Ellen Eddings Wilson; brothers, Vernon Woodrow Wilson and Cecil Clyde Wilson. SURVIVORS: Her four children: Naomi (Nomi) and Dr. Robert Burns of Keller, TX; Stephen and Jean-Marie Smith of Arlington, TX; Deborah and William Teasley of Sunnyvale, CA; David and Anna Smith of Frisco, TX; grandchildren: Louis and Rekha Burns of Richardson, TX; Dottye Gilbert of Lewisville, TX; Dr. Jonathan Burns of Tampa, FL; Christopher Teasley of Sunnyvale, CA; Laura Teasley of Los Angeles, CA; Aaron and Torie Smith of Providence Village, TX; Jared Smith of Dallas, TX; Brittany and Brad McAlister (U.S. Army-Ft.
