Dorothy Faye Smith's Obituary
Dorothy Faye Smith was born August 20, 1922 to Marvin L and Annette Victoria Young at their home on Goliad Street in Rockwall, Texas. She was the second child of five children. Dorothy grew up in Rockwall in a family that was very close and supportive. She developed lifelong friendships that began as early as the first grade. After graduating from High School in 1939, she married Clyde Smith of Royse City.Dorothy was a stay at home mom with two children, Janet Ann and Clyde David. After nine years of marriage, she and her husband started a drycleaning business in Dallas, Texas, where she worked many hours a day to build a successful business with several locations in the Dallas area. In 1959, Dorothy had a third child, Terry Glenn. Terr was a joy to mother, and all who knew him. Around 1966 the business was sold, and Dorothy went to work at Texas Instruments as an electronic assembler. She retired in 1984 at the age of 62, and enjoyed a long and enjoyable retirement, which she so richly deserved.Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Marvin and Annette Young; husband, Clyde Smith; her son, Terry Glenn Smith; and two brothers, John Marvin Young and Samuel Leon Young. She is survived by a son, Clyde David and wife Patricia Ann Smith; and a daughter, Janet Ann and husband Bill Burleson. She delighted in her grandchildren, Richard Jeffrey Smith, Jerrell Wayne Little, Christopher Lynn Little; and Kimberly Ann Little. She is also survived by her brother, Carey Young; her sister, Annette and husband Jim Lovell; and sister in law, Inez Smith. There are also five great grandchildren who will miss her greatly and a new great great granddaughter. She also left behind many nieces and nephews that she loved and cared greatly about. A special thankis go out for all the prayers and visits from her friends and relatives. We wish to express our thanks for the care and services of Tina Care at Waterford, the staff at Broadmoor Medical Lodge, and the employees of Hope Hospice. Her daughter Janet’s loving care during her last days mader her last days a lot easier. In lieu of flowers, donations to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.The family requests that visiting hours be observed for Ms. Smith from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 19, 2018 in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service for Dorothy will follow at 3:00 PM in the Wildwood Chapel. Interment will take place after the funeral in Veterans IV at Restland Cemetery.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
