Dorothy Vernetta Hale Crouch's Obituary
Dorothy Vernetta Hale Crouch was born April 22, 1920 to Oakley and Pearl Hale in Sentinel, Oklahoma. She married Travis C Crouch on 12/25/1940 and moved to Dallas, Texas. Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, leaving her son, Charles Crouch of Dallas, daughter, Cheryl Yoxtheimer and husband Russell, of Ft. Towson, Oklahoma, daughter in law, Katherine Spinks of Dallas, grandson, Robin Crouch of Dallas and granddaughter, Kate Crouch of Paris, France. She also leaves several daughters by other mothers. Travis & Dorothy were charter members of Casa View Christian Church, Dallas, since 1953. A devoted Christian who continued to help others well into her 90’s. Also serving in many areas of the church, and finally joining the choir at 85. Dorothy worked at Railway Express in Dallas until the company moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She then worked in Milk Payroll at Kraft Foods, Garland Texas until that department was moved to Springfield. At this time she was transferred to the Kraft Credit Union in Garland until her retirement at 62. When she was 70 the Postal Credit Union, Dallas asked her to come and cover a 3 month maternity leave, she worked for the next 7 years. An absolute whiz at “42” (dominoes), so much so that most wanted her as their partner. She also loved card games, especially with her grandchildren. Always ready to pull out the card table and fix snacks too. News Years eves also found her up until the wee hours —– if there was 1 person continuing to play —- she would also. An avid gardener, her rose bushes were always looking good, also her vegetable garden brought lots of goodies to the dinner table. Whether homemade bread from scratch – delivered hot from her oven to friends, or her home made brownies, chocolate or butterscotch were cherished by all. Mom passed to spirit on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at home in Oklahoma. Visitation will held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 7-9 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11 AM in the Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75243.
