Dorothy Mae Wells' Obituary
Dorothy Fitch “Grammy” Wells born July 16, 1914 passed away on March 17, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband Lec Alfred Wells and is survived by her children, Ginna Cranston and husband Robert of Mamora, NJ, Cindy Hill and husband Wendell of Spring, TX, Jeff Wells and wife Jan of Richardson, TX; grandchildren, Rob Cranston and wife Laura, Chris Hill and wife Kellianne, Kristy Hardin and husband Jon, Lisa Wittliff and husband Matt, Sara Wells, Lec Wells and wife Rikki; 5 great-grandsons; 2 great-granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter due this year on July 16th- her birthday. Dorothy had an undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming and a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Columbia University. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Dorothy directed the state of Wyoming Child Care Centers during World War II. She later moved to Texas in 1945 and was active in Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where she held offices of both Deacon and Elder. Dorothy was a member of P.E.O. for 76 years and was an active volunteer for both Meals on Wheels and North Dallas Shared Ministries. She had many interests such as reading, travel, crossword puzzles, and bridge. On her 80th birthday per her wish, she and all of her family attended a Rangers baseball game at the new ballpark. She was devoted to her family. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 2:00PM Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dallas, 8200 Devonshire Drive, Dallas, TX 75209. Special thanks to Appletree Court of Richardson and Rolling Acres in Dallas for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heifer International or Westminster Presbyterian Church.
