Dorothy Jean Willingham's Obituary
Willingham, Dorothy Jean passed away on February 9, 2014 at Plano Presbyterian Hospital. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and support of family, friends, and church family carried her through a battle to recover from a previous stroke to her final days when her body was unable to continue the fight. She was born to the late Otis and Florence Sisco on November 12, 1929 in Plano, Texas and was raised in Farmersville, Texas with her two brothers and two sisters. Dorothy graduated from Farmersville High School in 1948. She married the late William Pete Willingham in April 1950. They lived together in the Oak Cliff and Pleasant Grove areas of Dallas until his passing on November 7, 1993. Soon after that she moved to Plano to be closer to her daughters and extended family. Known for her ease in conversation even with total strangers, Dorothy had a contagious smile and sweet spirit that won the trust and hearts of many. Her gift of joy displayed through her constant smile and laughter will never be forgotten. In addition to being a homemaker and mother of two, Dorothy was involved in retail sales most of her life, first working at Town East Mall as a store manager and later opening a very successful re-sale shop in Pleasant Grove. Her most recent efforts were in 2013 when she started a new business, Dottie’s Flowers and Collectibles. Dorothy was an active member of the Highland Oaks Church of Christ where she was adored by members of all ages. She also enjoyed many fun times at the Plano Senior Center, playing games and attending events such as dances where regularly helped with welcoming new visitors and providing transportation for those that needed a ride. Dorothy is survived by her two brothers and sister, HW Sisco, Jack Sisco, and Pat Hare; two children, Yvonne Rustin and Cynthia Prewitt; two grandchildren, Jonathan Prewitt and Cara Lustig; and four great grandchildren, Zachary Prewitt, Breana Prewitt, Noah Lustig, and Isaac Lustig.
