Dorothy McCaslin Wilson's Obituary
Dorothy McCaslin Wilson (lovingly called "Woo"), age 96, of Dallas, Texas, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025. Dorothy was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and she attended Will Rogers High School where she lettered in Volleyball. During WWII, she moved to Dallas with her parents Leslie F. and Mary Marie Bachmann McCaslin. She is survived by her (4) children, Deborah Carlton (George), Diane Hollie, Robert 'Bob' T. Wilson, and James Bradley 'Brad' Wilson, who were all raised in the Lake Highlands/ Richardson area, along with Dorothy's (5) grandchildren, Chris Mitchell (Brandi), Cameron Mitchell (Ann), Chad Carlton (Kristin), Lindsey Allred Beatty (Taylor) and Allysa Wilson. Dorothy also has (5) great-grandchildren, Payton Mitchell, Camryn Mitchell, Cole Read Carlton, Violet Beatty and Briar Thomas Beatty. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe O. Wilson, Jr., both of her parents, older brother, Leo McCaslin, and her younger brother, Jimmy Herman McCaslin (Suzanne), who just recently passed just 13 days after Dorothy's passing.
Dorothy's main focus in life was being a devoted stay-at-home mom who was active in her children's and grandchildren's activities and hobbies. She strove to be the best mother and homemaker that she could be, and she loved her family with the ferocity of a mother bear. She loved to cook and she created many delicious original recipes. She particularly loved having BBQ's and hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas meals with her entire family. It was always such fun when all her kiddos, spouses, grandchildren, and family friends got together at the Wilson house where there was always laughter, music, foosball & Jenga games, and lots of fun just horsing around. She will be greatly missed!
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30am, Friday, June 20, 2025, in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. Visitation will be held in the Chapel one hour prior to services. The service will be performed by the Rt. Reverand Dr. George R. Sumner, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, and pallbearers will be family members Brad Wilson, Chad Carlton, Chris Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Taylor Beatty and Michael Mitchell (close family friend).
Dorothy never wanted to be the center of attention, so her services will be private for family members and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to honor Dorothy are invited to make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
