Douglas Keith Wofford's Obituary
Douglas Keith Wofford
10/17/62-6/29/22
Doug walked through life with a heart so big, he left smiles wherever he went. He saw the best in everyone and for those blessed to be closest to his heart, every day was a day to be cherished. Doug never complained and always found time to take care of his loved ones and their every request.
Doug will most be remembered for his love of soccer, Tae kwon do, his Dallas Cowboys, his Harley and his family. His daughter, Skye, was his greatest love in life. He attended her every soccer game, cross country meet, Tae kwon do class, dress fitting – he was there, no matter what. In pouring rain, freezing temperatures or blazing heat, Doug was often the sole parent in the stands because if his “baby girl” was out there, so was he.
Doug was a free spirit, sporting long hair, a beard and an earring in his younger days. He would ride his Harley to White Rock Lake, hang out with bikers, drinking beer and sharing the gospel. Because Doug never spoke down to anyone, they would listen to him. How many he led to Christ is unknown, but his words did inspire his wife of 42 years, as well as his daughter, to believe the Good News. Doug was a good and faithful servant until the very end. As the gates of Heaven opened, surely a cheering army awaited him, with Doug humbly walking through, wide eyed and smiling, amazed at the impact he had made.
There isn’t enough paper in the world to say everything there is to say about this humble, pure of heart man, but for those who knew him, they loved him and will carry sweet memories forever.
As his daughter, Skye, said, “Although my dad has passed on without me far too soon, he is, without a doubt, the greatest, brightest, warmest, and most wholesome dad I could have ever asked for. Moreover, I know my dad was and still would be very proud of me, but on the contrary, I am even more grateful and proud to have called him and to be able to continue to speak on how proud I am of having him as my dad – forever and always. I love you daddy.”
Doug was a simple man, so services will be casual. Skye has asked that those who attend please consider wearing Dallas Cowboy apparel.
Preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jean (Orr) Wofford and his father, Earl Junior Wofford, Doug is survived by his wife, Susan Cathleen (Holm) Wofford, and their daughter, Skye Noelle Wofford. He is also survived by his siblings Earl, Debbie, Kathy, Chris and their spouses.
