I was privileged to have classes with Dr Cooper in 1981-82. Listening to him lecture on Biblical Archeology was fascinating then and my memories of him still are. What a gracious and thoughtful man with a great sense of humor! God bless the family and Thank You Dr. Cooper!
Lamar had a wonderful sense of humor, a passion for helping anyone he could and a great devotion to the Lord and his wife and family. On a professional note, Dr. Cooper and I were colleagues at Criswell College and later spent many years working together on the excavations at the Qumran Plateau in Israel, site of the Dead Sea Scrolls. He and his wife Diana were part of the staff and direction of the excavations and Dr. Cooper published a journal essential article on the interpretation of the animal done deposits and the messianic advent. His last work at Qumran with me was on the Qumran Cave excavation in 2017 that discovered a new Dead Sea Scroll cave that received coverage in the December 2018 issue of National Geographic. His indefatigable energy for teaching the Word and using archaeology as a witness to its historicity and accuracy will be a memorial for a new generation to follow and bold upon. I remember Dr. Cooper as a wonderful professor. He was a very godly man who taught his students with a caring heart. Whenever I teach from God’s Word, I will remember something he said.

Dr. Cooper made a tremendous impact in my life. I took several classes with Dr. Cooper as a student at Criswell College. I learned a lot about the Bible from Dr. Cooper and Dr. Cooper lived what he taught. Dr. Cooper taught me about the importance of praying Scripture, the importance of generosity toward others, and doing your work with excellence. I wrote my first academic paper in Dr. Cooper's Old Testament survey class and the feedback he gave me in that paper made me a better writer. Dr. Cooper had a love for archaeology, and he taught his students about the important contribution of archaeology to biblical studies. I want the Cooper family to know how much of a blessing Dr. Cooper was to me and I will be praying for you.

Dr. Cooper was one of the most inspirational and encouraging men in my life at
Criswell. His profound influence, patience and encouragement during the days
taking Hebrew was such a blessing. My life was enriched and our family blessed
by your parents.
I shall never forget the privilege of traveling with your father and mother to Moscow and Obnisk, Russia in 1992. He went there to teach and ask me to go to assist him. We had
such a great time in the Lord and some wonderful challenges and experiences.
My heart grieves for you all, but as you are so I celebrate his presence with the Lord.
Thank you for sharing your father and mother with me and our family on numerous
occasions while I was pastoring in Pattonville, Texas, and in Montgomery, Alabama.
Our prayers are with you all and your family. May our Fathers grace and peace be
