Duane Ronald Goar's Obituary
GOAR, DUANE RONALD Born on January 21, 1939 to Doris Caroline (Dahlstedt) and Floyd Leslie Goar, Duane’s parents considered him the perfect playmate for older brother Darrell. He was loved by his parents and cherished them in return. Duane was born in Moline, Il. where he grew up loving sports, fishing, and playing Euchre with Grampa Joe. He graduated from Moline High School, Augustana College and received an M.B.A. from Illinois State University. He was introduced to his wife of 25 years, Jean Anderson, by his tennis partners, Pat and Jim Anderson, who then became his sister and brother-in-law. Duane and Jean were married on August 14, l989 in Jackson Hole, WY., becoming best friends and sweethearts through the years. They bought a home on the golf course of Stonebriar C.C. in Frisco, Tx. where Duane resumed playing the game of golf. Duane was the founding partner in an Executive Search Firm, Sandhurst Assoc. which was later consolidated with TMP Worldwide. Duane was a born “matchmaker”, never giving up the practice of this God-given gift, along with being an encourager. Duane loved games (ALL games) especially basketball (“go Mavs”), baseball, (a lifelong ST. Louis Cardinal fan) and of course golf. The added benefit of golf was getting to play the game with friend, Jim Stevens, as well as his wife, three children and two grandsons. Duane completed his life on Sunday, March 2nd at age 75, as he passed from this life, holding the hand of his wife and daughter, into the arms of his Savior. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Jean, his daughter Lisa and her husband, Terry Whatley, grandsons Chris and Matt, Matt’s wife, Christine and great grandson, Wyatt, his son, David and his wife Valarie, and grand-daughters Jacqueline and Victoria, his son, Jeff and partner Garth Brunt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Compassion International.
