Duran Wade Ray's Obituary
Our beloved Duran Wade Ray passed away at the age of 61 on January 28, 2024, in Plano, Texas. He went to be with God after a courageous and hard-fought three-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Duran was born on March 20, 1962, in Fairbanks, Alaska. He grew up in Michigan before establishing his roots in the great state of Texas. He founded his business, DWR General Contracting, where he took great pride in selecting jobs that showcased his remarkable skill and attention to detail. Duran’s hobbies included shooting, hunting, four wheeling, and spending time around a fire with his family, friends, and dogs. He was known for being an outspoken straight shooter, both literally and figuratively, and he was highly regarded as a man amongst men.
Duran was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Tammy Ray and his children Wade (Connor) Ray, Dylan (Kenzie) Ray, and Taylor (Grace) Ray. He is also survived by his parents Doran (Donna) Ray, his brothers Dwayne (Linda) Ray and Darrin Ray, his sister-in-law and dear friend Tina Murphy, and his parents-in-law Gayla (Roy) Cutler.
Duran was highly revered as he epitomized unparalleled strength and fortitude. He has taught his family and friends many lessons, and he has left behind a legendary legacy that will continue to live on in the memories and stories of his loved ones. The weight of his absence is devastatingly heavy and will be infinitely felt.
Duran’s family expresses sincere gratitude for your thoughts, prayers, and condolences. There will never be another like him.
