E. C. "Steve" Karnavas' Obituary
Karnavas, E. C. (Steve) ~ Passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at his home in Dallas. Steve was born September 10, 1922, to Chris and Aphrodite Karnavas in Mansfield, Ohio. Steve is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret; his sons: Steve and his wife, Linda; and Gary and his wife, Sherry. His grandchildren: Andrea Gentry and her husband Chris, Ben Karnavas, Monica Larsen and her husband Daniel, Joe Karnavas, and Victor Karnavas and his wife Tracy; his great granddaughters: Mae Margot Larsen and Kaitlan Karnavas; his siblings, Irene Nicolaou, Helen Fagg, and George Karnavas; and his step grandchildren Valerie Blubaugh, her son Joseph and her husband David, and Kim and Ashley Borgman. Steve served in the US Army during WW II in the European theatre. After the war, he moved to Dallas and graduated from SMU with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a BS in Management Engineering. Upon graduating from SMU, he joined Texas Instruments and was one of the electronics pioneers at TI in the 50s and early 60s. Steve became a joint owner of Textool Products, Inc. in Irving and spent his career as a manager and innovator in the semiconductor industry. Steve was a metal sculpture artist and “tinkerer”. He enjoyed his family and many life-long friends. Visitation will be held from 6-7pm, Monday, January 31st at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Rd in Dallas, with prayer service following at 7pm. A memorial service will be held at 10am Tuesday, February 1st also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
