Earl was a tremendous friend to all his Senior Track and Field competitors and friends. My older Brother Adolph HOFFMAN thought the world of him. They both were in the documentary “Age of Champions.” He would always be the first competitor
I had the pleasure of meeting Earl in June, 2005, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the Archery tournament of the National Senior Games. It was on my 65th birthday, so, I was blessed with his introduction. He heard me talk, and asked me if I was from Texas! I said yes, and he said I am too! After that, we became friends.
When he decided to do the Track and Field, I also did it. I always followed him, so I told him that he was going to have to show me how it’s really done! We always laughed at his answer, as he would give a very comical reason for what he did.
I will miss his presence, but will always cherish his friendship!

Earl has been our neighbor for several years as his loving daughter Jere and son-in-law Brian have been by his side. Earl was always friendly as he walked out to get the mail everyday. We especially loved seeing his smile on his 100th birthday and hearing stories about his life. It is an honor to have known Earl and God Bless him for serving the USA in so many tours. He will be missed in the neighborhood. Heaven certainly gained a hero!
