Earl Reed Greathouse's Obituary
Earl Reed Greathouse, 86, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away January 28, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas of natural causes. He was born January 27, 1935 to Robert E. Greathouse and Margaret Reed Greathouse in Quanah, Texas. He was divorced. He was a Biology Teacher at Sunset High School-Dallas, TX and Skyline High School for 10 years / Wadley Blood Bank Special Projects Administrator. He served in the Texas Air and Army National Guard from 1953 to 1958. Earl began his career as a Biology Teacher at Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas. He went on to teach at Skyline Magnet School, also in Dallas, and was awarded Regional Teacher of the Year. While teaching Earl also worked at Wadley Blood Bank. Eventually his work there became his fulltime career spanning 40 years. Earl's other interest beyond his career included a passion for the military, especially pertaining to airplanes. He was a small aircraft pilot and loved attending military air shows. He inspired two sons and later two grandchildren to enlist in the army. He was a skilled woodworker, creating furniture, cabinets and art pieces.
He is survived by daughters Kathy Forbes-Arlington, TX., Camille Kilby-Fort Worth, TX., sons Steve Greathouse-Waco, TX., Matthew Greathouse-Garland, TX., 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Judy Kay Greathouse.
A Service will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
