Earl Cade Higgins Sr.July 25, 1938 – November 1, 2019Earl Cade Higgins Sr. was born July 25, 1938 to James Cecil and Elizabeth Higgins in Dallas, Texas. He passed away in Lakeway, Texas. Many have said “Everyone loved Earl” and he will be greatly missed by many family members, friends and all those who had the good fortune of knowing him.On April 30, 1970 Earl Sr. was united in marriage to the love of his life, Symantha Jane Higgins. Symantha preceded him in death on May 29, 2015.Earl Sr. is survived by his son Earl Cade Higgins, Jr. and his wife Cindy whom lovingly referred to him as the “The Original Earl” from Southaven, MS; two sister-in-laws Gwendolyn Higgins of Albuquerque, NM and Darla Higgins of Arlington, TX; one niece, Catherine Higgins of Albuquerque, NM; 4 nephews, Roy Higgins of Albuquerque, NM, Jimmy Higgins, Chris Higgins, and Birk Barclay all of Dallas, TX; and one grandnephew Eli Higgins.Earl Sr. is also survived by Symantha’s loving family the Stevens, who include Symantha’s brothers Joe Stevens and his wife Connie of Spring, TX and Mike Stevens and his wife Darla of Montgomery, TX; 3 nieces, Paige Holsapple of Katy, TX, Megan Cardet of Houston, TX, Juli Gesino of Flower Mound, TX, as well as grandnieces Haley and Hanna Holsapple and Allison Gesino, and grandnephews Jack and Michael Gesino.His brothers Jim Higgins and Scott Higgins preceded Earl Sr. in death.Earl Sr. spent his younger years in Dallas graduating from North Dallas High School in December of 1956. After graduation, Earl headed to North Texas University on a football scholarship where he majored in marketing, a field that proved to be his calling. Earl then joined the US Army. Earl would later move to New York City where he became the National Sales Manager for Ideal Toy Corporation. Earl enjoyed many years in the international toy business and would eventually launch his ownbusiness bringing innovative and beautiful toys to the U.S. market. In New York City, Earl met Symantha, who would become his friend, his wife and adoring partner for 45 years.Together, Earl and Symantha spent most of their married life living in Dallas, TX where they owned Higgins Marketing Associates, Inc., showcasing their successful business in a Dallas World Trade Center showroom for over twenty years. Two of their most notable clients were Yamaha and German-based, Goetz dolls. For fun, Earl and Symantha enjoyed traveling all over the world, some of their most memorable trips included Egypt, Hong Kong, China, and many destinations in Europe.Once the Higgins decided to downsize their business and semi-retire they moved to Lakeway, TX where they made life-long friends and fulfilled their dreams of living on a lake. In Lakeway, Earl Sr. was very active in the community, including The Lakeway Church and the Rotary Club.Earl Sr. was kind, loving, and caring. He knew how to enjoy life with a twist of mischief and one-of–a-kind humor. When you captured his heart, you knew it.Please honor Earl Higgins’ life with flowers or donations contributing to MD Anderson (gifts.mdanderson.org) or the Earl Higgins’ scholarship fund to be awarded to college students in need (mail check to Lakeway Rotary Club, PO Box 342288, Lakeway TX 78734 with a notation “in honor of Earl Higgins”).A service celebrating Earl Higgins’ life will be held at the Lakeway Church (2203 Lakeway Blvd) on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 3p.m. and Earl will be laid to rest next to his wife Symantha at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 8th at the Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
