In his personal life he made his passions a reality. He was an avid motorcyclist and made numerous trips that included Canada and Alaska. At age 68 he began training to achieve his personal goal of walking a portion of the Appalachian Trail. After a year of getting in shape he made his journey of a lifetime; he hiked 225 miles from Amicalola Falls, Georgia to Clingman’s Dome in Tennessee. He never forgot his family though. He and his wife Barbara traveled the United States from all corners, creating memories that will last forever. They spent numerous summers traveling with family and introducing their grandchildren to the highest hills and deepest oceans this world has to offer. In their time together, Earl and Barbara discovered the passion of genealogy and created a written legacy cherished by their families. No matter what Earl put his mind to, he was able to conquer it with his family by his side.
