Earle Bruce Johnson's Obituary
Earle Bruce Johnson, 90, of Dallas, Texas passed away on January 19th, 2024.
Bruce was born on April 25th, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Earle Pruitt Johnson and Ferna Christina (Bruce) Johnson.
In 1954, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Oklahoma State University, where he was a proud member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
After graduating OSU, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, honorably serving from 1955 to 1959 as part of the 3720th Military Training Squadron.
He met his beloved wife of over 33 years, Maxine, through their mutual interest in square and round dancing, spending many joyous years as each other’s dancing and life partners.
Bruce worked in the insurance industry, retiring in 1990 after a successful career with Aetna. He was also a member of Hillcrest Masonic Lodge #1318.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and birdwatching, as well as socializing over a game of Rummikub. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and exceptional friend.
He is survived by his wife Maxine Johnson (Bunnell); older sister Earlene Taylor (Johnson) of Elk City, Oklahoma; three daughters: Deborah (Dave) Huskey of Plano, Texas, Robin (Marc) Davis of South Padre Island, Texas, and Kristy Gessley of Wylie, Texas; three granddaughters: Sonia Rodriguez, Rachel (Jonathan) Orr, and Laura Gessley; as well as several nieces, a nephew, and a 101-year-old aunt, Ms. Ann Ward of Upland, California.
A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, January 25th, at Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. A viewing will take place at 1 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bruce’s memory may be made to Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
