Mrs. Eva Earlene Massie (Pugh), “Nanny”, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends in Lindan Park Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, October 26th, 2014 in Richardson, Texas at the age of 86. Earlene is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Brownmiller and husband, Curtis of Richardson, Texas, and Dottie Pettigrew and husband, Richard of Roanoke, Texas; brother, Cleve Edward Pugh and wife, Jan of Carrollton, Texas; five grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and thousands of Facebook friends and Twitter followers. #Nanny! She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee, and parents, Bertha and Earl Pugh of Denison, Texas. Earlene was born on July 8th, 1928 in Preston Bend, Texas. She graduated from Denison High School in 1947, and the following year married Walter Lee, an accountant who owned Massie Office Supply. After moving to Richardson, Earlene assisted Walter in running the family business for the next 25 years. Throughout their marriage, the couple traveled all over the globe, visiting dozens of countries, and beating countless friends at card games (#UnoWorldChampion). When they weren’t flying, they would regularly load up the family in the RV for camping trips. Her family remembers her as a generous entertainer with a sharp wit who tirelessly encouraged them to always look on the bright side…who couldn’t swim or ride a bike. Earlene was accomplished at gardening, quilting, and cooking, and often made her famous pot roast for anyone Wayne would bring to the house. She treated everyone she met like they were family, and loved having her family and friends around as much as possible. She was an active and dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson, and then Northrich Baptist Church. As President of the National Accountants Association, she and Walter spoke at numerous conventions around the US. The family would like to thank caregivers at Lindan Park and Acadia Assisted Living for their loving dedication and support. Earlene’s family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Services for Earlene Massie will take place at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at Northrich Baptist Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Earlene’s life. .
