Eddie James Willis Sr.'s Obituary
Bishop Eddie James Willis Sr was born in Terrell, Texas on May 15, 1957 to the late Trinnie Willis-Henderson and Walter Lee Willis Sr. He woke up in the arms of Jesus on November 30, 2022.
Bishop Eddie Willis, Sr. graduated from Terrell High School, where he met the eventual love of his life, First Lady Vanessa Willis. He married his sweetheart on January 24, 1978; together they enjoyed raising three beautiful children. Bishop Willis was a dedicated husband and father. He would do anything for his family; he gave them his all, and loved to be surrounded by his family and his church family.
Bishop Willis served God faithfully until his transition. He was a devoted Pastor for over 40 years with his lovely wife, who loved preaching the Gospel. He continuously helped others and spoke life into those he pastored. He loved to tell others about Jesus and had a smile that you could see from miles away. He was a spiritual father to so many and had a listening ear. Bishop Willis was always willing to give the best advice to his children, grandchildren and spiritual children. He attended The Art Institute of Dallas. He treasured art, and would sit for hours drawing and painting the things that he valued. His most famous painting was that of “Joseph with the Coat of Many Colors.” There are a host of people who today have his paintings displayed in their homes.
Bishop Willis cherished quality time with his loved ones and telling jokes that kept everyone laughing in good spirits. Bishop Willis had a heavenly voice and was known for singing, “I Won’t Complain” by Rev. Paul Jones & “Ride this Train” by the Canton Spirituals. He had a true desire for playing the guitar and learning all that he could of this musical artistry.
