Edgar Hugh Hemphill's Obituary
Ed Hemphill passed away Sunday, May 11, 2009 in Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was born on October 26, 1927 to Elmer and Emily Hemphill, both deceased. Also predeceased in death by his first wife Deloris Trosvig, daughter Linda Lou Swab, his son Michael Ray Hemphill and a grandson Fajada Swab. Surivors include his wife for the past 21 years, Edna Hemphill of Dallas, brother and sister-in-law Joe and Peggy Hemphill, niece Kathy Smith and her children, Cortney and Kimberly Smith all of Odessa, Texas, son-in-law Karl Swab and wife Roxane, Grandsons Pheadrus Swab, Damian Swab and wife Windy, two great grand sons and a great grand daughter, all of Arlee, Montana, and many friends. Eddie’s early ambition was to be a cowboy. He worked on ranches in West Texas before joining the Navy. After being discharged from The Naval Service, he spent 42 years working for the Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1988 as Damaged Freight Claims Inspector. Ed enjoyed retirement for 21 years. Ed had many interest. He was a founding member of the Lone Star War Dance Society, served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Cotton Belt Employees’ Credit Union for 24 years, enjoyed history, especially the Civil War. He was a member of the Dallas Civil War Round Table and an avid sports fan who enjoyed fishing, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He was a friend to be treasured and was liked by all who knew him. Services at Restland Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas 972-238-7111, Thurs., May 14, 3:30pm. HE WILL BE MISSED.
