Edgar Allen Poe Jr's Obituary
Edgar Allen Poe, Jr. passed away in Dallas, Texas on August 30, 2009. He was born at home in Dallas on August 31, 1925 to Edgar Allen Poe, Sr. and Ruth Deloma Turcotte. He was a graduate of North Dallas High School and attended SMU. He served in the Army Air Corp in World War II working on B-17’s and B-29’s as well as the P-80, our country’s first fighter jet. “Junior Poe” had a long career in the heavy road equipment industry with Conley-Lott-Nichols Machinery Company and MPS Equipment Company. He was an active member of Cochran Chapel Methodist Church since 1949 serving his church family in various roles. He is survived by his wife, Doris Poe; daughters Susan Poe Doell and her husband, Tom, Stacy Poe Perley and her husband, Mike and Sandra Poe Gerhart and her husband George. He is also survived by a niece, Andi Allen and grandchildren Stephanie and Scott Peterson, Melanie Doell, Melissa and Curtis Land, Christopher Perley, Laura Perley and Spencer Gerhart . He sadly leaves behind his loving and faithful companion, his dog Lucy. Services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Cochran Chapel United Methodist Church, 9027 Midway Road. There will be open visitation at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue on Friday, September 4, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in his name to the SPCA of Texas or Cochran Chapel United Methodist Church.
