Edgar Lawrence Read's Obituary
Larry Read, age 78, passed away peacefully at Highland Springs, Dallas TX on September 3, 2015. He was born in Stephenville, TX to Edgar Lonnie Read and Larue Weber-Read who have both preceded him in death. He married Connie Evelin Hooks on November 5, 1955 in Dublin, TX. Together they had three children, Lynn, Michael “Mike” and Lane. He attended UT Arlington and graduated in 1973 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an Engineer in the communications industry from 1974 until 2002 at which time he retired. He enjoyed his career as an engineer, while at the same time demonstrating a true passion for God, family, friends and the outdoors. In his retirement, he was committed to serving others, demonstratingthe true meaning of the Good Samaritan. He is survived by his wife, Connie Read and his three children, Lynn Read-Lane with spouse Chuck, Mike Read with spouse Velvet, and Lane Read with spouse Colette. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by seven grandchildren, Loren Berry with spouse Kristen, Ashley Fletcher with spouse Jonathan, Taylor Read, Parker Read, Emily Read, Christa Read and Evan Read. He is survived by two brothers, James Read with spouse Bonnie, and Bill Read with spouse Sue, and brother-in-law, Max Hooks with spouse Mary. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you consider a donation to The Leukemia Foundation or a charity of your choice in Larry’s memory. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Larry Read will take place at West Plano Presbyterian Church September 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm to be officiated by Rev. David Batchelder.
