Edikan Linus Essien's Obituary
Edikan Linus Essien, born on May 30, 1999, in Dallas, Texas, embodied a vibrant spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him. His untimely passing on March 30th, 2024, left a void in the hearts of his loved ones.
Edikan was the kind of person who lit up a room with his energy and smile. He loved being outside as a kid, whether he was playing with the family dog or zooming around on his bike. It was during his middle school years that his passion for soccer took root, becoming a lifelong passion.
During high school at the Brookhill School in Dallas, Edikan's dedication and talent earned him a spot on the school's soccer team, where he honed his skills and forged lasting friendships.
After graduating, Edikan followed his soccer dreams to London, to attend the Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy. He always said being a goalie was the best part because you could make or break the game.
During the summers, he split his time between visiting his parents in Nigeria and hanging out with his older sister in Chicago. That’s where he got into cooking, a hobby that turned into a career after college when he became a sous chef at The Ritz Carlton. There, he made some of his closest friends and was known for being hardworking, warm, and dependable.
One of his favorite Bible verses was Romans 12:2, which guided how he lived his life. He leaves behind his loving parents, three siblings, and friends who will miss him more than words can say. Edikan's laughter, spirit, and kindness touched everyone who knew him, and his memory will always be cherished.
