Edith Brooks' Obituary
It is with profound sorrow we mourn the loss of our mother Lillian Edith Brooks, born 10/20/1924, died 4/25/2021.
She was the second child of Clifton and Lucille Jones of Memphis, Tennessee. Growing up during the Great Depression she learned the value of family and love. Traits that she would carry throughout her life. During World War II, she was introduced to a young Army Air Corp Sergeant, Rea L Brooks Jr., also from Memphis. Their love blossomed culminating in marriage May 18, 1946. After creating a home in Memphis, their first son, Rea Edward was born. In 1955, the young family relocated to Farmers Branch, Texas. In 1961, their 2nd son, Scott Bradley, was born.
Mom was tireless in creating a warm and loving home for Rea and their two boys. Her love of cooking, especially southern dishes, always kept us at the table wanting more. She supported each and every event from baseball, soccer to Boy Scouts for her sons.
She was always there to help with homework and always there to patch torn jeans or wipe away a tear. She provided guidance, grace, leadership and instilled family values throughout her life.
Edith never failed to find the good in all, always putting others first. She had an infectious smile and kind disposition. Her words “Good, Good, Good” will forever describe her. She enjoyed life, was full of fun, wit, class and charm.
Edith is survived by sons Ed and Brad and their wives Trish and Lisa, grandkids Courtney, Laura, Shelby, Brianna and Colby and great grandchildren, Layla, Sawyer and Max. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rea, her parents and sister Aileen. She will be remembered as a warm, loving Mom, Meme to her grandkids and great grandkids. To her many friends, she will be remembered as a true, gracious compassionate person.
