Edith B. Davis' Obituary
Edith Burnice Smith Davis of Richardson, Texas, was born October 31, 1916, in Carrollton, Texas, to Doc and Betty Smith and passed away on December 22, 2011, at the age of 95. She married Jim Davis of Richardson, Texas, in 1933, and he preceded her in death in 1997. The Davis Family were among the earliest settlers in the Garland Richardson Plano area. Edith was a wife and mother for many years, keeping house for Jim when he was farming land in Dallas County now occupied by major shopping centers and commercial developments. After moving to Richardson, she was proud to serve many of the children in Richardson schools as a cafeteria cook and manager, a position from which she retired in 1981. She was for many years a member of the Abrams Road Church of Christ in Richardson. Edith and Jim had and are survived by three daughters, Virginia Williams of Garland, Texas, Mary Eastes of Mason, Texas, and Patsy Collins of McAllen, Texas. She had four brothers and three sisters, all of whom preceded her in death. There are of course nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who survive her, along with many friends, particularly those from Christian Care Center in Mesquite, Texas. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Restland Funeral Home, with visitation from 6:00 to 8:00pm, Monday, December 26. Funeral services at 12:30pm on Tuesday, December 27 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
