Edith Faye Dean's Obituary
Edith Faye Dean was born at Fort Towson, OK to parents Carl D. Nation and Velma Capps Goodwin. She grew up in the Hugo, OK area, one of ten children. She was married October 9, 1947 in Paris, TX to Idus William Ashlock. Four children were born to them, Barbara Faye, Charles William, Connie Sue and Terry Ann Ashlock. Throughout their marriage they lived in Oklahoma, Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas and Los Angeles, CA. In 1969, she married Morris Hugh Brown until his death in 1991. In 2003 she married Alfred Dean until his passing in 2008. Throughout the 1960’s Faye Dean was employed in restaurants and nursing homes and later at Texas Instruments in Dallas where she retired in 1991. She then began a second career working for a private duty nursing service until her retirement there in 2005. She thoroughly enjoyed her work and made many friends. Faye Dean is survived by daughters, Connie Gilbreath of Dallas, TX, Terry Ashlock and son-in-law Dale Hughes of Callisburg, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren Mark Shawn Ashlock, Hayley Brooke Hughes, Brian Edward Proper and brothers Carl Nation and Earl Nation and sister Mary Jones and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Barbara and son Charles, son-in-law Danny Gilbreath, brothers James Edward Nation, Obediah “Tobe” Nation, Cecil Glynn Nation, James Ray Nation, and sisters Ruth Ann Nation Riveer, Laura Nation Raulston, and Patricia Merle Nation Roberson. Faye Dean’s final arrangements will be handled by Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. Faye Dean suffered from rapidly progressing dementia but tried to make the best of her situation and stayed upbeat and positive until her passing. The family of Edith Faye Dean wishes to thank everyone for their visits, cards, gifts, and kind thoughts that have been shown to her for the last several years throughout her illness. Thank you again to Renaissance Care Center and Solaris Hospice who cared for her and showed such kindnesses to her.Visitation will be held February 3, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on February 4, 2019 at 12:00 PM in Abby Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
