Edith Louise Lovell's Obituary
Lovell, Edith Louise ~ Longtime Dallas resident born October 13, 1917 in Bridgeport, TX and passed away peacefully on February 1, 2011 in Rockwall, Texas at the age of 93. The older of two children, Edith attended Vickery High School in Dallas, Texas and graduated in 1935. She had 21 people in her graduating class. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Edith worked for AC Pendergrass in the Davis building in downtown from 1960-1965, for Collins Radio from 1965-1968, for the Mitchell company in the current Deep Ellum District for 12 years from 1968-1980 and for Haggar Slacks until her retirement in 1982. Edith was known for her sharp mind, wit, sense of humor and verbal skill. She was great at spelling words and being able to present them in several different ways, including as a storyteller. She was well versed in shorthand, word processing and like many who grew up in her era, had beautiful handwriting. Even into her nineties, Ms. Lovell was able to communicate scenes from childhood with remarkable detail. Edith was an avid reader of the Dallas Morning News and loved to work the crosswords of the day. For many years she read every daily issue of the morning news from cover to cover. She will also be remembered for her kindness, sweet spirit and considerate demeanor. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Cyril Lovell, in 1997. Edith is survived by her daughters, Carole Wilson and husband Robert, and Mary Drinkwater; grandchildren: Damon Wilson, Amy Anderson and husband Tyler, Callie Hand and husband Brandon, Holly Drinkwater; great grandchildren Cale Lovell Anderson and Ryan Ruth Anderson.
