Edith and Herman enjoyed attending church together, traveling, boating, fishing, and square dancing. Edith volunteered as a receptionist at a hospital, tutor at an elementary school, helper in a church food pantry and in a branch of the public library. Edith was a member of the Preston Road Church of Christ for more than forty years, then of Skillman Church of Christ since 1991. She was a long-time member of the Times Review Class book club.
