Edith Doris Stowers' Obituary
Edith Doris Stowers (Edie) was born on May 20, 1921, and died peacefully on February 12, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Edie was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She spent many summers throughout her life at her family home on her beloved Cedar Lake in Wisconsin.In 1954, Edie married the love of her life, Bill Stowers. Edie and Bill were the parents of four daughters, Diane, Nancy, Sally and Susan, whom they adored. After Bill’s untimely death in 1968, Edie became the owner of Presenting Italy, an Italian import store in Dallas. After selling the store in 1981, Edie was employed at Allied Lakewood Bank as a member of The Founders Group.Edie spent her life loving her family and friends, traveling, entertaining, cooking, and volunteering for a number of local service organizations. She was a member of the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. Edie’s positive attitude, her love of learning, and her sweet spirit remain a blessing to her family.Edie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Stowers; parents, Gertrude and Charles W. Pendock; brother, Charles E. Penbrock; and son-in-law, Jerry A.Cooper.She is survived by Diane and Jerry Brunson, Nancy Cooper, Sally and Travis Oliver III, Susan and Jim Rolfe, and loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and beloved nieces.A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 PM on February 17, 2018 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
