Edmund Lynn Roach's Obituary
Edmund Lynn Roach died at the age of 91 on September 17, 2023 in Carrollton, Texas. He was
born on May 7, 1932 to Rijah and Floy Roach in Monticello, Texas. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean war U.S.S. Valley Forge aircraft carrier.
He later moved to Dallas and began his working career. He worked many years for Stanley
Tools. For many years he owned about 72 acres of land which he inherited from his parents. A small
trailer house in a densely wooded area along with a fishing pond provided many pleasurable
weekend getaways and vacations. You could walk through the woods with him and he would
give you a lesson about the plants and wildlife in the area.
The old saying was true about Ed: “You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take
the country out of the boy.” You would soon discover that he was a lover of nature and the
outdoors by just walking into his backyard. You would find there all types of birdhouses. Trees
and other greenery which he had planted were scattered around the yard. He planted a garden
every year until he reached his eighties when he decided that potted plants would do just as well.
He particularly liked growing tomatoes and various peppers. Every day, he enjoyed sitting in his
favorite patio chair and just listening to and watching the nature around him.
Ed was a member of the Royal Haven Baptist Church in northwest Dallas for many years and
served his Lord in various ways. He often expressed how much he enjoyed singing in the choir.
For many years, he volunteered at the Northaven Nursing Home in Dallas where he would lead
the singing during church services there every Sunday afternoon. He would visit the residents in
their rooms and pray with them. He would share his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to all who
would listen to him. He loved to quote Bible verses. He would quote scripture at work and was
often called “preacher” by his coworkers. Even during his last few days of life on this earth, you
would here him quoting scripture in preparation to meet his Lord.
Edmund Roach is survived by his wife of 63 years Carolyn Roach; his son Mark Roach and his
wife Tammy; his son James Roach and his wife Cindee; two grandchildren, Jenny Dover, and
Corey Roach; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Restland Funeral Home at 1:00 PM
in the Wildwood Chapel, and immediately followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Restland
is located at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas TX 75243
