Edna Jeanne Argenbright's Obituary
ARGENBRIGHT, EDNA JEAN SIMPSON, passed away peacefully at her residence in Dallas on Monday, June 2. She was 77. Jean was born in Abilene, Texas to Edna Mae and J.P. Simpson; she was one of five children. Following her graduation from Cleburne High School, she became a flight attendant with American Airlines and was based at Love Field. After several years, she met and married Kenneth Argenbright in 1954. Kenneth founded ARJO Engineers, and they made their home in Dallas for the remainder of their adult lives. Jean enjoyed her involvement with the Dallas East Choral Club, the Northminster Presbyterian Church Choir, and was an original member of a bridge group that started in the early 1960s and continued for more than 40 years. She will be especially missed by those bridge partners: Charlene Carleton, June Driggers Farrell, Barbara Kern, Jayne Buckroyd, Anne Kenney, Sandy Steinbach and Lorrain Kremp. The late Sally Turpin and the late Jane Dobbs were also members of this group that met faithfully on the third Thursday of each month. Jean and Ken travelled extensively in Europe and the Caribbean during the 1980s and 90s, and enjoyed spending time at their vacation homes in Angel Fire, New Mexico and in Denison at Lake Texoma. Jean will be remembered as a loyal friend who was always willing to care for those in need. She took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, Christian Jay (CJ) Argenbright of Dallas and Kyle and Leslie Argenbright of Fort Worth. In her final years, Jean moved to The Plaza at Edgemere where she was loved and well cared for by the exceptional staff. In addition to her grandchildren, Jean is survived by her two sons, Stephen Argenbright of Dallas, and Dr. Keith Argenbright and his wife Teresa of Fort Worth; her brother Jimmy Simpson and his wife Wanda of Mineral Wells, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home of Dallas in the Abbey Chapel. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Presbyterian Children’s Homes & Services, 4407 Bee Caves Rd., Ste 520, Austin TX, 78746.
