Edna Violetta Carrillo's Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Edna Carrillo, known to all who loved her as Mama, on March 3, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on August 29, 1946, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Edna—a mother to many—brought light and joy to everyone with whom she shared her life until her final days in Dallas, Texas.
Edna leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as the beloved wife of Leopoldo Carrillo, with whom she shared nearly 60 cherished years. She was a pillar of strength and nurturing for her sons, Jorge Guillermo, Leopoldo, Jr. and his wife Jenni; Pablo Enrique, Louis Edwardo Carrillo, and her daughter, Edna Carrillo Rose, supported by her unwavering husband Jonathan. Edna’s love extended to her grandchildren, Sophia, Anthony, Isabella, Leopoldo, and Gia, as well as her great-grandchildren, Brady and Aradia, all of whom she adored profoundly.
Edna's life journey from Guatemala to New Orleans and finally Dallas was marked by her unfaltering spirit of generosity, optimism, selflessness, and a delightful sense of humor. She was a beacon of light and warmth to her family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Edna lived by a powerful ethos, inspired by Mother Theresa, that a life not lived
for others is no life truly. This principle guided her every action and interaction, making her a cherished member of her community and a source of endless love and support for her family.
The Carrillo family invites you to celebrate Edna's remarkable life on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243. This gathering will honor her enduring spirit, her contributions to the lives of so many, and her unwavering commitment to living for others.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice in Edna's memory, to continue her legacy of generosity and service to others.
Edna's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her luminous spirit will forever illuminate the lives of her family and friends. May her soul rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of those she touched on her earthly journey.
