Edna Earl Cowan Martin's Obituary
Martin, Edna Earl Cowan of Garland, Texas passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014. At the time, she was a resident at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Dallas, Texas. Edna was born in Sulpher Springs, Texas on April 7, 1933 to Marilyn and Bert Cross Cowan of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Edna was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and completed her training at Dallas Vocational Training School in 1976 and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Edna married Joseph Wanden Martin on August 25, 1950 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Edna was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. As a nurse, Edna lovingly cared for the sick and the elderly. She also used her nursing skills to tenderly care for numerous family and friends throughout her life. She truly had the heart of a servant and blessed many with her gift of hospitality. Edna Earl Cowan Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Wanden Martin, her brother Bert Wayne Cowan and her grandson, Allan Richardson. She is survived by four children: Marilyn Richardson and husband Marcus; Nancy Sisco; Judy Hull and husband Rick; and David Martin and wife Brenda. Surviving grandchildren include: Shelli Fisher, Laura Hunter, Jason Hull, Trenton Hull, Bret Hull, Cody Hull, Trevor Hull, Kaitlyn McDowell, Emily Martin, Rylie Martin, Kevin Durant and Kyle Durant. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Monday, August 18 from 6-8 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at Saturn Road Church of Christ on Tuesday, August 19 at 2 pm; David Davy officiating.
