Edna Louise Garrison's Obituary
GARRISON, EDNA, 93, of Dallas, Texas, departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Funeral services will be held in Dallas on Saturday, December 21, at 12:00 noon, Restland Funeral Home, Abbey Chapel, followed by interment. Dr. Craig Blaising will officiate. Eddie, as she was known to her friends, was born on September 28, 1920, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Louis and Edda (Townsend) Schneider. Louis worked as a machinist and real estate broker, providing for the family in very difficult times. During World War II, Eddie worked as a civilian secretary at the Army Air Forces base at Rosecrans Field outside of St. Joseph. There she met the love of her life, a young man from West Texas named Clay Garrison. They were married on August 1, 1944. Although Clay had been raised on a farm, he wanted to try his hand in banking. Clay and Eddie moved to Dallas so Clay could pursue his interest in finance. There they established their home and had two daughters, Donna Jan and Diane Sue. Eddie enjoyed being a full-time mother. She was an excellent seamstress, making all her daughters clothes from birth through college. She was also an exquisite cook, spoiling her family with wonderful homemade dinners. Eddie’s life was changed in 1967, when she came to understand that forgiveness of sins and eternal life cannot be earned by good works but can only be received by faith as a gift from Jesus Christ. She put her faith personally in Jesus, in his death on the cross and resurrection from the dead, and was born again into eternal life. She has lived since then with the peace that her life was secure in Christ, knowing that one day she would be with him, even to the renewal of all things. Eddie and Clay were members of First Baptist Church, Dallas. They loved and enjoyed their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as many friends. In her later years, Eddie enjoyed reading, traveling with her family, and painting as a hobby. Her desire was that others would know the joy and peace of knowing Jesus Christ as their own personal Lord and Savior. Eddie is predeceased by her husband, Clay and sister, Madeline Schneider Orr and her husband, Chuck. Eddie will be missed by her surviving daughters, Donna Jan Garrison Christensen and husband, Paul, and Diane Sue Garrison Blaising and husband, Craig; grandchildren, Clay Christensen and wife, Kim, Faith Christensen, Emily Grace Blaising Craig and husband, Joshua, and Jonathan Blaising; great grandchildren, Frank Christensen, Cassandra Christensen, Adric Christensen, Garrison Christensen, Hartley Christensen, Mabel Ann Christensen, and Hope Vivian Christensen; as well as other relatives and friends.
