Edstel Virl "Butch" Keys' Obituary
Butch was born to William and Bertha Keys in their home near Bright Star, Texas on August 17, 1927 and passed away on March 25th. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lucille Keys, his brothers Caroll Keys, Marshall Keys, Samuel Keys, James Keys, and his sister Christine Garvin. He is survived by his son Dennis Keys and wife Kathleen of Dallas, grandson Adam Keys and wife Courtney of Dallas, and granddaughter Amanda Keys of Austin and her fiance Evan Norman. He is also survived by his long time, loving friend and companion, Nelda West, his sister Anna Townsley, brother-in-law Brooks West and wife Nelcine, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a dear and caring community of neighbors and friends at Chubby’s, and friends at his deer lease. Butch began his working career on the farm where he developed the hard work ethic he never lost. He spent his adult working career in the floor covering business in Dallas for over 50 years, first at Trice Floor Coverings and later at Casa View Carpets. He loved to build, fix, “re-engineer”, and create things. Instructions were a last resort, and then only general guidelines. He enjoyed deer hunting, Las Vegas, and cruises. He was always ready with a helping hand for his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There will be a viewing at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, March 28, 2011 and a service will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Restland Abbey Chapel. Entombment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
