Edward James Beavan's Obituary
On October 11, 2014 Edward James Beavan was called to Heaven to be with his Lord and his bride of 62 years Nina Marie. He passed in his sleep. He was a devoted Catholic who raised all of his children in the Catholic Church. He was born in Lisbon, Ohio on August 28, 1931 to William and Alice Deville Beavan. His family moved to the suburbs of Chicago where he graduated from Privso High School. He excelled in academics and sports. He went on to Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois where he graduated with a Degree in Bachelor of Arts. While attending Knox College he played Baseball and Football for the college. He was a founding member of the Fraternity Alpha Delta Epsilon. An article was recently written on these Knox Fraternity members telling how they were told by their original Fraternity Phi Sigma Epsilon that they could not pledge an African American student. The Knox fraternity members went ahead and pledged him. They lost their charter over this. With the support of the college they formed Alpha Delta Epsilon. Before he graduated Knox College he married Nina Marie Flemm April 19, 1952. He graduated from Knox College where he taught school and coached. He then went into the electronics field working for Amphenol and Sheldahl, until he decided to become an entrepreneur. This is when he moved his family to Texas. He was very successful in his business and very respected in his industry and worked in the industry until he retired. He was predeceased in death by his father, William and his mother, Alice. Along with his sister, Mary Alice Carson and his beautiful, lovely, and wonderful bride of 62 years Nina Marie. He was survived by his children, Bonnie, Sally, Edward, William, Scott, and Susan. His Children’s spouses Stephen Scott, Tina Beavan, Michele Beavan, Donna Beavan, and Russell Jordan. His Grandchildren, James Neal, Sherry Neal, Stephen Scott, Emily Scott, Brooke Beavan, Matthew Baskette, Steven Fritz, Wesley Fritz, Blake Beavan, Brent Beavan, Paige Beavan, Bria Beavan, Amanda Jordan, Nick Jordan, and Thomas Jordan. Great Grandchildren, Christina Berry, Johnathan Berry, Lance Berry, Ava Collins, Faith Fritz, Payton Fritz, Schylar Cook, Hanna Cook, Zaniah Fritz and Lucas Jordan. The visitation for Edward will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Edward will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 20, 2014 in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
