Edward Earl Bristow's Obituary
Bristow, Edward Earl July 24, 1929 – August 16, 2013 Edward Earl Bristow, 84, of Dallas, Texas exchanged his earthly life for an eternal one with his Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, August 16, 2013. He is remembered as a kind and generous gentleman, faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather as well as a friend to many. Earl was born in Center, Oklahoma to Edward Ernest and Allie Cooper Bristow and was the youngest of five siblings. After graduating from Wanette High School in 1946, he attended East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma and completed his studies in architectural engineering at the University of Oklahoma in 1952. He moved to Dallas in 1953 and over the next few years worked for prominent architects George Dahl, AIA and Arch Swank, AIA before establishing himself as a structural engineer with Texas Industries (now TXI) and the Southwest Territories Division of Sears, Roebuck & Co. In 1957 Earl married his sweetheart Carolyn Sue Brown of Dallas after her graduation from North Texas State College (now the University of North Texas) and they shared life together as husband and wife for the next 56 years. Earl and Carolyn were lifelong members of First Baptist Church of Dallas where he served as a deacon and they worked with the Young Marrieds Sunday School Division. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth Bristow, Inez Barnett and Ima Chambers. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his sons Brian, Kelly, and David and their wives Judi, Leea and Lauren; and his granddaughters Megan Bristow and Anna Lee Bristow. Earl is also survived by his brother John L. Bristow and his wife Dannye Bristow of Albuquerque, New Mexico and sister-in-law Florence N. Brown of Dallas as well as many nephews and nieces. A visitation will be held at Restland Cemetery and Funeral Home on Monday, August 18, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at 2:30pm at the Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends Place of Richardson, The Vasculitis Foundation, The Parkinson’s Voice Project of Richardson, The Alzheimer’s Foundation or the First Baptist Church Dallas Building Fund.
