Edward Thomas Howard IV's Obituary
Mr. Edward (Ed) Thomas Howard, IV, age 57, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, in Plano, Texas. He was born to Mr. Edward Thomas Howard, III and Ms. LaRue Saunders Howard on Tuesday, November 10, 1964, in Huntington, West Virginia. For those who knew Ed well, he went by the name “Brother” (his name is the same as his fathers, except he was Edward IV and his father Edward III). He attended “The” Ohio State University and graduated with a BS in Architecture. Ed pledged Kappa Alpha Psi, Zetta Zulus Chapter, while at Ohio State - one of the things he was most proud of. After graduating from Ohio State, he worked for 5 yrs. at a local architect firm in Columbus, OH. He went on to work for JC Penney’s Construction division for 14 years in Plano, TX.
Edward lived his life by his own standards (sometimes to a fault). If he was your friend, he was your friend for life – if you fell out with him, you might not hear from him for months/years – lol. He had an opinion about most everything and anything and voiced himself passionately – he could talk your ear off. In college, he was always the life of the party. His hobbies/interests included bike riding, scuba diving, music (R&B & Jazz), passionately rooting for The Ohio State football and basketball teams and the San Francisco 49ers. You never knew when you might get a call on game day if the Ohio State Football or San Francisco 49ers were playing. He also loved to eat and spent many an hour watching cooking and travel foodie shows. Grilling was probably his specialty.
Left to cherish Ed’s memories are: his parents – Edward T. Howard III & LaRue Saunders Howard of Scottsdale, AZ, his sister and Brother-in-Law – Gianna Watkins & Herman Watkins of Scottsdale, AZ, his niece & her husband - Jasmine Westbrooks & Eric Westbrooks of Ireland, his nephews - Maurice (Mo) Watkins & Marcus Watkins of Chicago, IL. Uncle – Roger Willis of Roanoke, VA. Close Cousins – Phillip Hariston of Martinsville, VA, Tuwanda Hariston Carter & husband Joe Carter of Bethesda, Maryland, Howard & Nicole Barrett of Glenn Dale, Maryland, Heather Willis of Roanoke, VA, Rodney Willis of Richmond, VA. and a host of extended family, beloved friends and fraternity brothers from the Zeta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. A special “Thank You” to dear friends Tab Brown, Melvin Paxton, Tracey Nelson and Cassandra Dunlap who looked out for Edward over the last few years. Edward leaves his loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories. He will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.
