Edward Paul Jeske's Obituary
JESKE, Edward P. We all strive to be role models and live a humble, honest, loving and faithful life. Most of us find this journey, to say the least, challenging. Fortunately, for our family, Edward Paul Jeske embodied all of these attributes and we are so proud to call him Papa. Ed was born June 15, 1925, to Albert and Hattie Jeske on a farm outside Shawnee, Oklahoma. He graduated salutatorian from his high school and went on to honorably serve in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He also attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU), and then followed his girlfriend, Bernice Taylor, to California to finish his Civil Engineering Degree at USC. He married Bernice on June 8, 1947. Eventually moving to Dallas, Ed founded Jeske Construction in 1953. He quickly earned a reputation of integrity and honesty and was respected throughout the paving industry. 65 years later, the company is still a testament to his dedication, intelligence, and generosity. He and Bernice were members of Park Cities Baptist Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed his Sunday School classes and mission trips. They also traveled for pleasure and adventured all over the world. They enjoyed showing their grandkids their extensive collection of slides, with the African Safari being absolute the favorite. Back home, Ed followed the Rangers and the Cowboys passionately with season tickets dating back to ’64. Of even more importance to him, he loved and never missed his sons’ and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Bernice passed away in 2010 from a lengthy illness with Ed always at her side. Following her death, when asked if he would ever date again, he replied, “Why? I already had the love of my life.” Ed is survived by his son Steve and wife Lisa; son Paul and wife Marylee; grandchildren Brett, Matt, Nicole and Taylor; and brother Alton.Funeral Services will be held at Park Cities Baptist Church, Thursday, December 13, at 2 p.m. in the Ellis Chapel.A Visitation will be held in the chapel one hour prior to the service. After a reception at the church, there will be a family graveside service at Restland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Engage Hope in memory of Ed Jeske at Engagehope.org All donations will benefit the completion of the African Hearts School in Uganda.Funeral arrangements for Edward Paul Jeske have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
