Col Edward Donald Maddox's Obituary
MADDOX, EDWARD DONALD HUGH USAF Colonel retired, 89, died at home in Dallas May 1,2008, Thursday evening. Born in Santa Monica, CA November 28, 1918, Don caught the fever of flying watching the early planes against the blue skies there. Married to Naomi Ruth Maddox of Riverside, CA for 67 adventurous and happy years, Don and Naomi raised their four children at many places in the USA and Japan. Retired from 31 years of military service covering WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, Col. Maddox considered flying on behalf of his country as the highest of vocations. After retirement from the USAF, Col. Maddox and Naomi Ruth spent thirteen years ministering as volunteer Directors of the Chapel at the New Otani Hotel as part of World Evangelism Foundation in Tokyo, Japan. Col. Maddox, Dad, brother, Uncle Don served his God and his country and his family with quiet dignity. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Ruth, children, Peter (Sylvia) Maddox, Martha Maddox, Timothy (Alana) Maddox and Merry (Christopher) Rogers; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
