Edward N. Wilson's Obituary
Edward N. Wilson, age 87, of Richardson, Texas, died Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Avalon Home Care residence on Crestmere in Dallas, TX, with family and caring hospice aides. He was born July 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Frank and Era (nee Johnston) Wilson. He was married to Anne Rose Vescovi, who passed away on January 11, 2005. Edward grew up in St. Louis, attended Roosevelt High School and Washington University. While attending Wash U, he was a member of the track team and The W Club, honoring letterman. He graduated from Washington University in June 1948 with a bachelor of science in civil engineering. He continued his education and received his master’s degree from Iowa State College in June 1950 and Ph.D. in engineering science from New York University in 1959. He continued to teach engineering at NYU for many years and then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1973 where he taught at the University of Nebraska until retiring in 1993. He and his wife then moved to Richardson, Texas to be close to family. Although he loved life in Manhattan, he became an avid Cornhusker fan and continued to follow and enjoy college football. He was one of the first customers to buy a computer from Michael Dell and spent many hours writing programs for enjoyment and challenge. He often traveled to Europe, where he found the island of Malta to be most fascinating. He loved to read spy novels, watch the history channel, eat a great steak and savor good scotch and Godiva chocolate. He was a member of the Emeriti Association of the University of Nebraska, the Washington University of St. Louis Alumni Association and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Wilson Mother – Era (Johnston) Wilson Sister – Dolores (Wilson) Espenschied Brother-in-law – Merle E. Espenschied Arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. Interment will be in Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri, with his parents and his wife.
