Edward Gene Petty's Obituary
Edward G. Petty, passed away on July 25th, 2023, after a second battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Louise Petty, his sisters Martha Shipman, and Betty Gortney, his daughter Sondra, and his three grandchildren Miles, Mason, and Megan.
Ed was proceeded in death by his parents Willis and Lola Petty, his first wife Jacqueline, and daughter Kristen.
Ed was born on September 8, 1936, in Little Rock, AR. Upon graduating from high school Ed enlisted and served a total of 21 years in the Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. During Ed’s time in service in the Air Force he served as Avionic Weapon System Support, and as a Weapon Control System Technician. Ed was stationed out of Luke AFB Arizona and Kadena AFB Japan and spent a good portion of his service in Asia.
After leaving the Air Force Ed went to work for Texas Instruments. During his tenure with Texas Instruments Ed travelled and spent much of his time, such as the Air Force, in Asia. Ed spent over 20 years with Texas Instruments up until his retirement in the late 90’s.
After retirement, Ed spent his time renovating and working on his homes as he moved around North Texas from Mesquite, Dallas, McKinney, Lake Kiowa, and back to McKinney. Ed loved to watch westerns and war movies and root for his favorite Sports teams, Green Bay Packers, Houston Astros, and the Texas Rangers.
Ed was a Christian and was ready for his next journey, to be with God and his loved ones in heaven.
Visitation for Mr. Edward Gene Petty will be Friday, July 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be Monday, July 31, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Restland Funeral Home.
