Edward Pace Weatherby III's Obituary
Edward Pace Weatherby III, a resilient and independent spirit who lived life on his terms, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on July 18, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, Ed’s life was marked by his passion for family, his adventurous pursuits, and his unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Ed’s adventurous nature began early and endured throughout his life. A skilled mechanic and enthusiast of all things fast, he enjoyed racing cars, modifying vehicles, go-carts, and riding motorcycles. One of his proudest achievements was building a Benelli TNT motorcycle, perfect example of his creativity and determination. A devoted NASCAR fan, Ed was rarely happier than when surrounded by the hum of engines and the thrill of speed.
Ed served in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life that contributed to his strong sense of duty and resilience. On October 17, 1970, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Weatherby, and their partnership became the cornerstone of his life. Following Carolyn’s passing, Ed demonstrated extraordinary compassion and generosity by caring selflessly for her parents, a testament to his deep sense of family loyalty.
Ed's greatest pride and joy were his family. He was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren, always celebrating their achievements and milestones. His generosity, strength, and quiet wisdom left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Ed is survived by his son, Scott Weatherby, his wife, Shantel, and their two children, Bryce and Makenna; his daughter, Angela Weatherby; and a legacy of cherished memories. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Pace Weatherby Jr. and Jessie Lea Magness; his stepmother, Faye Weatherby; and his beloved wife, Carolyn Weatherby.
Ed lived a life defined by strength, generosity, and a love for the open road. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
